Visit us in Vienna: EGU conference
The Biodetection Technoliges Hub will be attending the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly 2026 in Vienna from 3rd to 8th May. The EGU is one of Europe's biggest geoscience events in the year, with over 12,000 scientists gathering from around the world to share research across atmospheric science, Earth, space and more.
Heading to EGU 2026? Come and meet the Biodetection Technologies Hub team, or reach out to us before the event.
From the Hub, Dr Ian Crawford, Research Fellow at The University of Manchester, will convene a session on Bioaerosols: detection, measurements, modelling and impacts, where a few researchers will present. In particular:
Dr Mark Tarn, from The University of Leeds, will be talking about Higher than expected ice-nucleating particle concentrations in the Southern Ocean: Preliminary findings from the SOC 2024 cruise.
PhD student, Hao Zhang from the University of Manchester will be discussing the pollen fragments amplify cross-boundary impacts on air quality.
Dr Jianghan Tian, from the University of Hertfordshire, will be presenting her research on characterising respiratory aerosol emissions from speech and therapy activities using Wideband Integrated Bioaerosol Sensor (WIBS-NEO).
Dr Etelka Chung, from the University of Hertfordshire, will be highlighting ozone-free electrostatic collection of aerosolised microspheres.
Dr Ian Crawford will also present a poster on assessing heatwave impacts on fungal spore emissions with real-time detection and next generation sequencing technologies.
Also joining from the Hub are Professor David Topping, Philip Keenan and Elif Sensory.
