The 1st UK Microsystems Symposium

Running for the first time, the UK microsystems Symposium was held in Cambridge on 6th and 7th July 2026. It was a wonderful opportunity for the Hub to give a talk and present a poster to contribute to research reshaping and connecting fields in healthcare, quantum technologies, robotics, and environmental sensing. The symposium was a great networking event to meet other researchers and industry leaders to discuss potential partnerships and future plans.

Hub presentations included:
Dr Mark Tarn (Academic Fellow, University of Leeds) gave a talk on "Microfluidic analysis of ambient ice-nucleating particles in the Southern Ocean".
Dongting Xu (PhD student, University of Leeds) presented a poster on "A Digital Microfluidic Platform Towards Automated Droplet Freezing Analysis of Ice-Nucleating Particles".

Following the event, Dongting stayed an extra day to take part in the UK Microsystems PhD Summer School.
