Her Royal Highness visits The Biodetection Technologies Hub

Princess Anne recently visited the Biodetection Technologies Hub (BTH) during the inauguration of the new Spectra building, marking a significant and memorable moment for the team at University of Hertfordshire.

During her Royal visit, Professor Dan McCluskey led the exclusive tour of the £100 million building. This included a stop at the main BTH lab, where Princess Anne met Wendy Wills (Pro Vice Chancellor of Research and Enterprise), Professor Ian Johnston (Director of the BTH), Professor Chris Stopford (Head of Particle Instrumentation Department within the BTH) and Dr Etelka Chung (BTH Research Fellow).

The team presented their latest projects and devices in biodetection and highlighted their collaborations with partners. It was an amazing and once in a lifetime experience to discuss the importance of biodetection for addressing critical challenges in health, environmental monitoring, and national security with Her Royal Highness.

The BTH’s engagement with Princess Anne underscores the vital role of interdisciplinary research in advancing public health, while her encouragement serves as inspiration for ongoing and future endeavours.
