Network in Norway: Connect with the hub at AIRMON 2025
The Biodetection Technologies Hub will embark on another research journey to explore Modern Principles of Air Monitoring and Biomonitoring at AIRMON 2025, in Loen, Norway.
From 15th to 19th June 2025, researchers are gathering in the Fjord District of Norway for the 11th AIRMON conference to address recent developments in assessing human exposure and related strategies, with particular emphasis on air sampling, biomonitoring, and innovative analytical methods.
If you’re attending, it would be a pleasure to connect – feel free to come find us at the conference or get in touch in advance.
The Hub will be presenting research on aerosol sampling, measurements and modelling, as well as novel sensor technologies and performances. In particular:
Dr Licia Dossi will be talking about a colourimetric sensor developed at Cranfield University, which is able to detect vapours of illicit substances at the ppt level. This exciting research supports the fight against organised crime and terrorism, with the aim of contributing to global security. Ongoing PhD research will investigate how this technology can be used for biodetection.
Dr Lanka Weerasiri, from the University of Hertfordshire, will be presenting sampling of bio-aerosol using electrowetting-enhanced electrostatic precipitation to demonstrate the capabilities of ruggedised sampling devices for field trials.
Dr Etelka Chung will be highlighting a novel concept for aerosol collection using dielectrophoretic actuation. This principle builds on actuation techniques developed at the University of Hertfordshire, with possible improvements on maintaining microbial viability.
Priya Chopra will be discussing the design and evaluation of a novel wet electrostatic precipitator for aerosol capture using charged liquid droplets at the University of Hertfordshire.
“I am excited to present my research at AIRMON on creating new aerosol collection devices and the challenges encountered by foreseeable and unforeseen problems.” Priya Chopra, PhD student at the University of Hertfordshire.
