Dr Rob Lewis
University of Hertfordshire

Rob Lewis is a Research Fellow in the School of Physics, Engineering, and Computer Science at the University of Hertfordshire, working with the Particle Instruments and Diagnostics research group. A recent graduate of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Aerosol Science, Rob’s PhD project involved the analysis of light scattered from fibrous aerosol to determine fibre size from individual particles.

What are you working on as part of the Hub?

My main area of research is a continuation of the PhD project, further developing fibrous aerosol detection and measurement but now more focused on the development of a working prototype system.

What is exciting you the most about your current research?

What excites me most about my current research is being involved with the development of new technology.

What difference do you hope your research will make?

If successful, this could be developed into a commercial product that could help prevent exposure to things like airborne asbestos, potentially saving lives.

What are you most proud of in your research career?

Finishing my PhD.
